
This is to notify you that on October 10, 2018, the Maine Land Use Planning Commission (Commission) voted to initiate rezoning, pursuant to 12 M.R.S. § 685-A(7-A), of approximately 3.5 acres of land located in Chesuncook Township, Piscataquis County from its present Accessible Lake Protection (P-AL) subdistrict, Great Pond Protection (P-GP) subdistrict, and Unusual Area Protection (P-UA) subdistrict designation to a Recreation Facility Development (D-RF) subdistrict. The purpose of the proposed rezoning is to accommodate operation of the Chesuncook Lake House as a recreational lodging facility. For the Commission to rezone the Lake House property, the Commission must find the criteria in 12 M.R.S. § 685-A(8-A) are satisfied.
Having received five or more requests for a public hearing, the Commission is legally obligated to hold a hearing on the proposed rezoning. The public hearing will be held at 10:30 a.m., November 14, 2018, at Jeff's Catering, 15 Littlefield Way, Brewer, ME 04412. Members of the public will have an opportunity to address the Commission at the hearing. Any petitions to intervene in the hearing must be filed, in accordance with the Commission's Chapter 5 Rules for the Conduct of Public Hearings, section 5.13(1), by 12:00 noon on Monday, November 5, 2018. A person does not need to intervene to be able to address the Commission orally at the public hearing or to submit written comments.
Written materials associated with the proposed rezoning are available for public inspection at any of the Commission's offices by appointment or by contacting the Commission. Written comments on the proposed rezoning must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018. Rebuttal comments must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018.
