BANGOR SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Consistent with Maine special education regulations, the Bangor School Department is notifying parents of students identified under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) that certain educational records of their children are no longer needed to provide educational services to the students or to demonstrate that the Bangor School Department provided the students with a free appropriate public education as required by law and regulations. Permanent records including student name, address, telephone number, grades, attendance records, classes attended, grade level completed and year completed are maintained by the Bangor School Department without time limitations, but the special education records of students whose birthdate is 12/31/1991 or before will be destroyed beginning September 1, 2018. Parents may retrieve student records prior to that date by contacting, in writing, the Director of Pupil Services, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor, Maine 04401. Please indicate the student's name and date of birth.
