NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Pursuant to the Maine Administrative Procedure Act, 5 M.R.S. §§ 8001-11115 and the State's Water Classification Program 38 M.R.S. §§ 464-470, the Board of Environmental Protection (Board) hereby gives notice that it will hold a public hearing on the proposed re-classification of certain waterbodies. The waterbodies proposed for re-classification are located throughout the state, and the hearing is of statewide interest. Following the hearing, the Board may recommend changes in classification to the Legislature for its consideration in the next Legislative session. At the public hearing the Board will receive testimony from interested persons and the general public on a number of specific proposals made by Department of Environmental Protection staff for changes in the water quality classification of certain waterbodies. A summary of the 2018 proposals for the re-classification of Maine waters and related information may be viewed on the Department's "Water Quality Re-Classification Initiative" web page (www.maine.gov/dep/water/monitoring/classification/reclassification.html). The public hearing will be held at the Cross Insurance Center, 515 Main Street, Bangor, Maine on Thursday, September 20, 2018 beginning at 1:00 pm. Comments on this matter may be submitted orally to the Board at the hearing or in writing until the close of the public comment period on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 5:00 pm.
