The State of Maine, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), has issued a categorical exclusion in compliance with the State of Maine's Chapter 595, Section C of the Clean Water State Revolving Fund rules and Chapter 230, Section 6 of the Drinking Water Revolving Fund rules, on behalf of the City of Bangor and the Bangor Water District to exempt a proposed joint utility project from the substantive environmental review requirements.
The proposed Utility project will rehabilitate sewer main, construction of new storm drain lines in limited areas for sewer separation, installation of new sewer manholes and catch basins, and replacement of water mains, valves and hydrants and appurtenances.
A review of the proposed action by the DEP as Lead Agency has indicated that it meets the criteria for a Categorical Exclusion. Specifically, the proposed utility project is directed solely toward existing utility replacement. This exclusion may be revoked at any time if any of the criteria used for its issuance are violated.
Further records in regard to the project are on file and are available for public review at the City of Bangor, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor and the Bangor Water District, 614 State Street, Bangor and at the offices of the DEP, 25 Tyson Drive, Augusta, Maine. Comments relative to this decision may be submitted to the City, District or DEP within fifteen days.
